Age: 28 Years Old

Subira was born healthy although she started to have seizures in 2005. She takes medication to control the seizures but due to her condition she lives with her mother, when she is feeling well she is responsive and alert, but the seizures have affected her both physically and mentally. She likes to laugh and is a happy girl when she is feeling well.

Her mother takes care of her and does piecework farming in our village. She worries about Subira and would like to see her go to a larger hospital for better treatment. They would benefit greatly from regular support and medical insurance that would allow Subira to receive the care she desperately needs.

 Age: 81 years old

Mama Nassoro is an elderly woman in our village. When we met she was caring, the best she could, for her young grandson Feisali, who now stays with us. She is still farming, and could work circles around me, it gives her life purpose, and she feels she would die if she stops. She often gifts us with mangoes and small amounts of food from her farming. And is the first to volunteer to help us with working on our crops.

We have helped her to build a new toilet building, purchased her first ever mattress, helped her build a new small home and provide her with food. She loves to visit and share stories and is often the first person to show up if someone is sick.

She would benefit greatly from regular support.

 Age: 29 Years Old

Jacob has been disabled since he was around 18 months old due to lack of vaccines he became sick with Polio. We like to visit Jacob and his mother and offer support when we can. Jacob is happiest when he eats and can feed himself.

He is completely cared for by his mother Andricia. She does piece work farming around the remote village where they live. The house they live in doesn’t belong to them and she is constantly in fear of being evicted as she doesn’t pay rent. She has recently been having trouble with her eyes, which is affecting her ability to work and is in need of surgery but to do so would require someone to stay with Jacob for approximately 2 months while she recovers as well as the food needed as she will be unable to work. There situation is desperate and they need support regularly.

We first met Jacob in 2020 and have done what we could to help them including bring a wheelchair for Jacob so that his mother could take him with while she works or transport him to the hospital for treatments. We would love to bless Andricia and Jacob with a sponsor.

Age: 80’s

Mzee Tyson is an very humble man, and is a respected elder of the village. He sits on the board for our Ward to hear and decide cases in dispute. He struggles with his health specifically he requested to go to the hospital for his asthma. When we took him to the hospital it was discovered he also has high blood pressure. He is unable to contribute to the family by farming due to his health and this is very difficult for him. He hopes to become well enough to help his family.

As a respected elder we ask him to come talk with the kids especially those who are struggling, to give them advise on their behavior and the opportunity that they are receiving by being sponsored by Conka Africa Foundation.

We would like to find a sponsor for Mzee Tyson so that he can have health insurance and hopefully lesson the stress he feels this would allow him to go to the doctor and receive his medicine without feeling as though he is a further burden on his already stressed family.
