Abdul was one of the first 10 kids we started helping and currently lives here at Conka Africa Foundation. He lived with his grandmother and was abandoned by both his mother and father. His grandmother would bring him to us when he was sick so we could take him to the doctor, he would stay with us until he was feeling better and then return to his grandmother’s home. She is elderly and caring for several grandchildren, although she is unable to farm and take care of their needs and is barely able to survive.
Abdul struggles in school and is currently repeating Standard 7 at Mbaraji Primary School in a neighboring village. He loves to play football and hopes to be a mechanic one day. If Abdul is unable to pass Standard 7 this year, we hope to enroll him in a local trade school where he can continue his dream of becoming a mechanic.

Laikasha is in Form 5 at Sagamaganga Primary School. She is a very good student and enjoys studying, especially Mathematics and English. She enjoys playing Volleyball and is very competitive in anything that she does.
Prior to living with us at Conka Africa Foundation Laikasha was brought to our village to become a house girl. After meeting her, the prospective employer refused her because she was too young. We first learned of her then. Later we found out that she moved around with her mother and was dropped from the school system. In order to reestablish her as a student it would take more money than most villagers could afford. Before we could figure out a plan to get her returned to school, she was sent to another more interior village to become a house girl for another family and into a situation that would not be good for her. When we learned of her status we asked for her return so that we could support her and get her back into school where she belongs.
She is now thriving in this environment and is very happy to be gaining an education.
